Powdered sugar: grams to cups
1 cup of unsifted powdered sugar weighs 113 grams, so 100 g of powdered sugar is 0.88 cups, a little under 1 cup.
Powdered sugar, confectioners' sugar and icing sugar are the same thing: granulated sugar ground to a fine powder, usually with a little starch or an anti-caking agent so it doesn't clump in the bag.

Weights from the King Arthur Baking ingredient weight chart, checked October 7, 2026. King Arthur Baking lists “Confectioners' sugar (unsifted)” at 1 cup = 113 g. Grams per cup is worked out from their figure; ounces are converted from grams.
Sifted or unsifted
King Arthur's 113 g is for unsifted sugar spooned into the cup. Sifting aerates it, so a cup of sifted powdered sugar weighs less. Read the recipe carefully: “1 cup powdered sugar, sifted” means measure, then sift. “1 cup sifted powdered sugar” means sift first, then measure.
Not a swap for granulated
A cup of powdered sugar weighs 113 g; a cup of granulated weighs 198 g. Swapping cup for cup changes the sweetness and the texture, so if you must substitute, go by weight, and expect a different crumb. See sugar grams to cups.
Frosting by weight
Buttercream and glazes are all about the ratio of sugar to fat or liquid. Weighing the sugar gets you the same consistency every batch, and you can still add it gradually and stop when the frosting looks right.
Frosting recipes from TikTok are often “eyeball it” affairs. ReelMeal writes down what the creator actually says and shows, so you have amounts to start from.
