Rice: grams to cups
1 cup of uncooked long-grain white rice weighs 198 grams, so 100 g of rice is 0.51 cups, about ½ cup.
King Arthur lists ½ cup of dry long-grain rice at 99 g; a full cup is twice that. Short-grain, jasmine, basmati and brown rice pack a little differently, so treat it as a close guide for those rather than an exact figure.

Dry rice vs cooked rice
Recipes mean uncooked rice unless they say cooked. White rice roughly triples in volume as it cooks, so 1 cup dry gives about 3 cups cooked. Because cooked rice holds so much water, its weight per cup has little to do with the dry figure; don't use the chart above for leftovers.
How much rice per person
As a side, plan on about ¼ to ⅓ cup of uncooked rice per person, roughly 50 to 66 g. For rice as the main part of the meal, such as a rice bowl or fried rice, allow more.
Water ratios
How much water rice needs depends on the variety and the pot, so the package directions are the best starting point. Whatever ratio you use, measuring rice and water by weight keeps it the same from one batch to the next. For other grains and baking staples, see grams to cups.
